The Rose Window

After the hurly-burly of the working day dissipates

The river curls calm and contented through city corners

Gently lapping at the edges of twilight dreams,

Carrying the hopes, wishes, despairs and longings

Of millions along it's rippling, rolling snake-back,

Mesmerising in its sea-bound tidal undulations,

Wending its way to dissolve in deep endless blue.
