Festival of Peace Croydon - 16th -23rd June 2018

What Does Peace Mean To You? We’re inviting you to be involved in a cross-cultural, cross-arts, interfaith celebration of Peace next year. As the world remembers the centenary of the end of WWI, we can make a powerful, colourful, vibrant declaration of peace.

The Anthem of Peace LMP’s brand new Anthem for Peace highlights the role of music as a force for good and the perfect way to bring people together – something that we need now more than ever. This modern-day anthem, composed by children’s composer Richard Brown with lyrics by Thornton Heath poet Shaniqua Benjamin, can be played, rapped, sung, remixed or sampled by musicians of all abilities, ages, genres and backgrounds. It will take centre stage at Croydon’s Festival of Peace in June and we’d love you to be involved!

The Anthem was premièred in November 2017 by the LMP and children from Ecclesbourne Primary School, Thornton Heath, at Buckingham Palace in the presence of the LMP’s patron HRH Prince Edward – see the video of this exciting occasion at http://londonmozartplayers.com/anthemforpeace/

The first public UK performance of the anthem will take place this summer in Croydon’s first Festival of Peace; it will be sung by local choirs, schools, music groups and artists at large community performances at the beginning and end of the Festival Week 16th–23rd June – do come along!
